Background

Rod Woodson is a hall of fame cornerback who played for 4 different NFL teams. He is now a coach in the NFL but he had a great career while he played in it. In just his second season in the NFL he had 4 interceptions for 98 yards. Every season after that he averaged at least 3 interceptions per season. He even had a season where he rushed 225 and 8 interceptions! This was no surprise because he already was a stand-out football player.

College

Rod Woodson accepted a full scholarship at Purdue University for electrical engineering and football. He mostly played cornerback and kick returner, but in rare scenarios he would play as a wide receiver and a running back. He was then named All-American Defensive Back and All-American Returner in 1986. He was also selected 3 times for the All-Big Ten first team. In Woodson’s final college game he gained over 150 combined rushing and receiving yards. He also made 10 tackles and forced  fumble to give Purdue a win. Woodson left his college with 13 records to his name, he was inducted into the Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003.

Accomplishments

He currently holds the NFL Defensive Back record in touchdowns with 12.

Rod Woodson was a great offensive and defensive player that will never be forgotten.
